It pulls you into the story slowly, but in time, you really start to feel for the unnamed protagonist. I don't know what it feels like to be a wolf but if it's possible to know, this would be it. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sarah Clark -- A must read! : It took me a couple of chapters to get into the writing style, at first I wasn’t sure if was for me, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. It’s a beautifully written book and unique due to its POV. Parts tugged at my heart strings while others has me grinning from ear to ear. Truly a captivating read, I currently have it on Kindle but will be ordering a physical copy of it as well because I liked it so much. I can’t wait to read more by this author! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Yueqi Wang -- Captivating - raced through in one sitting : The book came in great condition, no bent pages and front design was pleasant and straightforward. Like the headline says, I read through this in one sitting (though it definitely hadn't been my intention) because the storytelling and characterization really grabbed me. The prose worked really well in communicating both the mindset of the main character, a male wolf from pup onwards, and how he experienced the surroundings in a way that wasn't overblown or too sparse. I felt like I could really immerse myself in the setting. The story had just enough pace to mimic the natural progression of time - some stretches of eating and growth and exploration followed by bright spots of those defining moments - it wasn't action all the time and neither was the a molasses crawl of "just being in nature". Would have liked to see a bit of a epilogue or the continuation of the story in a second book, perhaps descendants, but I guess I'll have to check in a few years to see whether the author has more to say. I was skeptical at first that it wouldn’t be able to capture and hold my attention, but it definitely did. It’s quite hard to put into words the feelings this story evokes, because it’s so unlike a lot of what is out there. I loved the setting and the descriptions of the action sequences, pain or scenery. It makes it incredibly easy to visualize, or feel what is happening. Some of the sections related to hunting and eating were just so gross, but so authentic.
