• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Lovely poetry, beautiful illustrations- A Must Have for All! : Anthologies are a great way to get lovely bit-sized reading moments for yourself or with your children. This beautiful book did not disappoint. Talented poet, Nancy Tupper Ling's title poem, "For Every Little Thing" sets the tone for a relaxing, soothing and hopeful experience. The book has several sections (i.e. Morning, Family and Friends, Nightfall etc) which take us through a day of gratitude and wonderment. There are lovely daily blessings and prayers of thanks which could be part of your night time ritual with images that delight and are sure to foster conversation between parent and child. Helen Cann's illustrations are just amazing, perfectly setting the tone for the text. I cannot recommend this book enough for your own enjoyment and gift giving. I encourage you to look up other June Cotner and Nancy Tupper Ling collaborations. Each one exquisite. So happy to start my collection! ( Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2021 )

What makes this book sing for me is the art - lovely watercolors (?) full of clever details to discover. I love the city scene with tiny people in the windows doing various things (including a man feeding his fish), and the beautiful night skies, and the animals and owls nestled throughout. Divided into sections like Morning, Love and Kindness, Family and Friends, Nightfall, and more, the book is suited to read any time of day and any time of year, but the lulling rhythms of most of the poems are particularly suited for bedtime. Helen Cann’s watercolor, collage, and colored pencil illustrations depict the natural world around us. Her use of soft lines and muted color scheme are perfectly paired with the poems selected by June Cotner and Nancy Tupper-Ling. After reading FOR EVERY LITTLE THING: POEMS AND PRAYERS TO CELEBRATE THE DAY, I feel inspired and grateful. I especially love the diversity-- not only are different religious traditions represented here, but there are classic poems by Emily Dickinson and Helen Keller and more modern poems by Nancy Tupper Ling, and a poem by an eight-year-old child.
